Hi Lovelies, its been a little while since I last posted and I wanted to do a short update as to why. I will always be honest on here, this is my safe space and my place to go when I need to vent or get things off my chest.

I was doing pretty well around the time of my anxiety post. Managing to go out more than usual, I was seeing family regularly, able to do a food shop alone. Small things like that.
However, a month or two later, things with my anxiety seemed to get bad again. It got to the point where I hardly ever left the house.

Right now, I am still going through phases of that. Seemingly having more worse days than good.
I’m trying not to allow it to get the better of me though. I have been challenging myself to do things that make me uncomfortable in order to get over this. Mostly with activities for Maalik.

Staying consistent with things is my main goal right now and I am taking things one day at a time.

The Gruffalo Trail

Maalik has been obsessed with watching Bing since he was 1.5yrs old. It was the only show he would show interest in and would have the biggest meltdowns when we tried to encourage him to watch something new.
He would repeatedly chant “Bing, Bing, Bing” so I just gave in and back to back Bing it was.
At this point we had seen every episode more than twice but that didn’t stop him from re watching them over and over and overrrr again…

Finally, the day came where he was open to watching different things. His new love at the moment is The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child.
The Gruffalo books have been a part of his book collection since he was a baby. I love reading to him now he has an attention span of more than 15 seconds. He shows interest in what he sees on each page and remembers phrases from the books too.
Anyway, one day I decided to search for some fun activities to do with him. I found myself searching for Gruffalo related things to do online and found there was a park which included a Gruffalo trail.
It was only an hour or so drive away and we (Me) packed up some food for a picnic and got ready to go. Very spontaneous of us!

We set off…

The drive wasn’t too long but Maalik still napped for about 35 mins of the journey. I was glad as he then woke up refreshed and full of energy. The park offered plenty of parking which is is pay and display. I can’t recall how much but the price was reasonable.
They had a small cafรฉ on site with outdoor seating which is where we enjoyed our food. You can buy a map of the park to follow the trail which I think cost 40p.

They also have a small shop where you can buy Gruffalo themed souvenirs. Things like stuffed Gruffalo characters, bags, mugs and some other things. We got Maalik a small mouse teddy which I think was ยฃ12/ยฃ14. Overall a great day out and would recommend. Just don’t forget your wellies like I did!

Messy play activities

I love doing activities with Maalik as he loves messy play. While being out at the park one day I asked him to find and collect some pinecones from around the park. I wanted to do some pictures at home using them and he found a pretty good selection.
We took them home and while he napped I set up his table for the activity.
Turns out acorn painting doesn’t really do much of a print though so it was a bit of a fail. However, I gave him some lego pieces and some plastic shapes to print with. He had a good time doing that and pointed out the shapes he had made.

Maalik absolutely loves anything technology related. He is always stealing his dads phone to access Youtube and find the shows he wants. He knows how to switch the tv between Netflix, Prime or Disney+ and if he isn’t doing that, he’s messing around on the pc any chance he gets! I was browsing on Amazon and came across this little Vtech educational laptop. It’s aged 3+ teaches age appropriate curriculum including phonics, counting and spelling. It encourages hand eye co ordination and visualisation skills. The mouse control took him a little while to get the hang of but now he uses it well. All in all a good little laptop that encourages his developmental skills.
